Enrollment & Eligibility
​
What is the minimum age to start Bharatanatyam classes?
​
Students must be at least 5 years old to begin classes. We recommend waiting until this age as it allows sufficient muscle and joint development for proper learning and enjoyment of the art form.
​
Do you offer trial classes?
​
No, we do not offer trial classes. Bharatanatyam is a traditional art form that requires time, consistency, and dedication. Students need a few months to settle in and begin appreciating the rhythm and movement.

My child is younger than 5. Can I reserve a spot or get updates?
​
We begin enrollment for new batches in June every year. You may email us again in the summer before the school year you’d like to join. Your child must be 5 years old at the time of enrollment.​
​
Do you accept students who have previously trained elsewhere?
​
Yes. We conduct a placement evaluation to determine the most suitable class based on the student’s training and technique. Please email us in July to schedule an evaluation before the fall session begins.
Adult Students
​
Do you have classes for adult beginners?
​
Yes. We offer adult beginner batches at select locations (usually Fremont). Based on interest and availability, we also offer adult classes at our other locations.

I learned Bharatanatyam years ago, where should I start?
​
We can arrange a brief evaluation to determine whether you should join a beginner, intermediate, or refresher batch.
​
Can I observe a class first?
​
We do not allow class observations or trials out of respect for enrolled students and teachers. However, we’ll be happy to discuss your background and place you appropriately.

When do classes begin?
​
Our academic year runs from September to May. Fall classes begin after Labor Day weekend.

Fees & Payment
​
How much are the fees?
​
Fees vary based on the number of classes per semester as well as level of class attended. Fees details will be shared after registering for classes.

When are fees due?
​
Fees are due on the first day of each session.
​
Do you charge late fees?
​
Yes. A $25 late fee applies if payments are not received on time, as this ensures proper care of our facilities and timely wages to teachers.

What payment methods do you accept?
​
We currently accept PayPal, cash, and check payments.
​
Do you prorate fees or offer refunds?
​
No, fees are not prorated for missed classes. Make-up sessions may be arranged at our discretion for prolonged absences if we are notified 30 days in advance.
Attire & Class Requirements

Students should have their hair neatly tied with loose hairs clipped back such that it is not a distraction when they’re dancing.
Proper attire maintains discipline and unity. Students not in uniform will not be allowed to participate.
Performances & Events

Do students perform publicly?
​
Yes! We host an Annual Performance in May for all students who have been enrolled for the full school year (September–May). Additionally, depending on the students’ level they will be given opportunities in temple performances, cultural events, Bay Area fundraisers, thematic productions, and more.

Once you express interest, we will email you our registration form and detailed schedule. Please complete and return the form with payment to confirm enrollment.

When can I register?
​
Registration for the new school year typically opens in July, with placements finalized in August.
